Newsflash: not everyone can write good web copy

The purpose of your web copy usually isn’t just to tell people what you offer.

It’s not just about saying the right words – to attract the best clients for you, you need to be clear on your intentions. Why do you want to do what you do? What is your soul’s purpose? It also helps to know how websites work. When website savvy meets powerful spiritual intent, amazing things can happen.
  • You want it to sell, persuade and convince
  • You want people to take some action – like getting in touch, booking or buying something
  • To do that, you need to make an emotional connection
  • To do that, you need to know who you are, who your customers are and what motivates them
  • To really connect with them, you need to be clear on what tone of voice* you’re going to use for your copy

And it also helps to know:

  • How people read online, and how websites work
  • A bit about layout
  • A little about SEO (search engine optimisation)

So while it’s easy enough to make your own website these days, there’s more to writing the words than first appears.

And of course, before you write a single word, it’s important to check that your intentions are clear and positive, and that there are no conflicting feelings about your work or yourself getting in and muddying your message.
